Family Letters

While packing, I found a collection of letters to my grandparents that I saved. This blog will simply be the gradual and random recording of those letters received by Carl "Charlie" and Frances Corridino Carbone. [?] indicates I'm not sure of a word or spelling; [with a word in it] means I inserted a word that seemed to be needed; I also use [brackets] to set off annotations.

Hello Honey,

Are you getting big so you can go to school? When you go to school study hard so you can be a good soldier. And take care of Mommy and baby Maria. And make sure Guy and Nicky are bood boys. Kiss Gram for me.

Uncle "Bruno"

Nick,

I will be meeting you tomorrow and was researching the Bedford/St.Martin's website. Your blog has sidetracked me, that's for certain. These letters are particularly interesting to me because since my mother passed away this year, I have found a wealth of letters and pictures from my father's tour in the South Pacific in WWII. He's been dead for over twenty years and how I wish I would have KNOWN to ask him questions about his experiences. Luckily, the pictures he took have typed descriptions on the back. My dad...always thinking.

I look forward to talking with you tomorrow.

Warmly,
Nan
